Why Shreyas Iyer is not a Hero ????

Shreyas Iyer: A Comeback Story That Deserves More Credit

Despite His amazing Performance both in domestic cricket and National team he was not given enough credit. media and PR agencies are still promoting MS Dhoni and everybody knows that it’s high time to write for new talents. Because of this hypocrisy we hate to read these low graded newspapers . one example is of  Karun Nair , how he was dropped from national team for the last 8 years.

Shreyas Iyer’s last couple of years have been nothing short of a rollercoaster. From being dropped from BCCI’s central contract to leading teams to IPL glory, Iyer has seen it all — the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

In IPL 2024, he captained KKR to their third title, breaking a 10-year drought. Then in 2025, he took charge of Punjab Kings and led them to the final — almost achieving the impossible. His unbeaten 87 off 41 balls in the playoffs against Mumbai Indians was a masterclass, leaving even MI’s owners speechless. Yet, strangely, social media barely gave him the credit he deserved.

After being left out of the BCCI central contracts — reportedly for skipping domestic matches — Iyer responded in the best way possible: with runs. He turned up for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, scoring 452 runs in just 4 matches, including a double century. His performances forced everyone to take notice.

On the international stage, Iyer was India’s top scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy and continued to shine in ODIs in 2025. He scored 424 runs at an average of 53, proving that his class wasn’t going anywhere.

Yet, controversy didn’t stay far. A viral, misleading video showed him seemingly ignoring a handshake with PM Modi — a clip that was later proven to be edited. On top of that, an intense on-field moment where he lost his cool was blown out of proportion. The internet, as usual, was quick to judge, slow to understand.

When asked about being dropped, Iyer simply said, “The bat is always in my hand. It’s up to me to perform and win trophies.” And he did just that.

Shreyas Iyer’s journey is a lesson in grit. He may not always trend on Twitter or grab headlines like some others, but he’s out there doing what truly matters — delivering when it counts. Maybe it’s time we gave him the recognition he’s earned.
